Go home; you’re drunk they said …
but Tom McClean proved them wrong! In 1990 Mr. McClean completed The Typhoo Atlantic Challenger, a 37 ft bottle-shaped vessel, which carried him across the Atlantic Ocean, from New York to Falmouth in 37 days. ″It was not a bad old bottle,″ said than 47-year-old McClean.
I spotted the Typhoo Atlantic Challenger when roaming the shore of Fort William. I immediately knew one does not simply stumble upon the bottle shaped vessel by accident and that there must be an interesting story behind the construction of this unique creation!
I developed some darkroom prints from photographs taken that day and discovered Mr. McClean’s story. The story of charity person, Rockall survivor, proud owner of few world records and the owner of ‘Moby’ Prince of Whales, which is a 25 ft high and 65 ft long boat with the shape of Moby Dick!!!
Mr. McClean, you are a legend and I salute you!
